Do you love Junior Ranger Programs? So do we! We are the digital junior ranger team; we're a mixture of graduate, undergraduate, and high school students coming from Gunnison, Colorado. We're guided by Dr. Melanie Armstrong, professor and Public Lands Coordinator in the Environmental Management graduate department at Western Colorado University. Currently, we are working on creating multiple Digital Junior Ranger program prototypes in partnership with the National Historic Trails Team and National Park Service. Prototype? What does that mean? Basically it means we are traveling around the country (seriously check out the cool places we've gone to in the photos below) to do research, visit museums, talk with experts and bring all this knowledge back to create digital junior ranger programs about 9 National Historic Trails. These digital junior ranger programs, are similar to one's that you may have experienced at National Park Service sites like Grand Teton or Yellowstone, but ours are a little different, they are all digitally accessible.
Not only are we creating these digital junior ranger programs, but we are also taking them to schools, non-profit organizations, and homeschools groups to share them with students and parents alike to gain feedback. This website contains a mixture of digital junior ranger activities. With each activity you complete, please fill out the surveys. It will help us immensely because we are trying to understand what makes an effective, engaging, and worthy digital junior ranger program. If you are interested in learning more head over to our contact page and fill out the form; we'd love to chat. Thanks for stopping by and check out the photos below!
